Cans for Kids recycles aluminum cans only. Soda cans and individual juice cans are aluminum. 99% of all beer cans and 95% of all pop cans are also made from aluminum. Food cans and larger juice cans are tin and unfortunately cannot recycle in our densifier.
Here are some simple guidelines on how to collect the cans. In order to get the best price for the cans when sold in the USA they must be free of contaminants and empty of product. The following items are considered contaminants: dirt, cigarette butts, straws, all plastics, napkins & stones. Please remove these contaminants so we do not have to do it at the densifier site which means less labour costs and more money for the programme. We would prefer you use a "clear" plastic bag for collecting your cans. Cans for Kids densifyer machine using collected cans to make aluminium briquettes for sale in the U.S.A.

Once the cans arrive on Wastenot’s site they are sent through the densifier. The densifier crushes the cans and smashes them together into 2 foot cubes called briquettes. These briquettes are then ready to be shipped out to a major aluminum recycling plant in the United States.
