• It makes children more environmentally aware. Remember that they one day will run the planet.
• Of course they need a planet to run! Recycling helps save the planet! • When you start recycling in the schools it becomes a habit to children just like reading and writing. • Making aluminum cans from recycled cans uses 90% less energy than making aluminum cans from raw materials (planet saving move). • Recycling aluminum cans cuts related air pollution by 95% (saving the planet again). • Best of all, collecting for Cans for Kids makes money for the children, who can now grow up to continue saving their planet in many other ways. |
When the briquettes arrive at the United States recycling plant they are shredded into smaller strips of metal. These metal strips are heated to melting causing the impurities (dirt & dyes) to separate from the aluminum to then be removed.
The melted or molten aluminum is poured onto metal trays and made into aluminum bars and then rolled out into sheets of aluminum. The sheets are sold to can makers to then make new cans.
